Summer Wrap Up

The summer brought great efforts from the Viper squads competing in summer ball.  The Virginia Vipers Softball Club for Veterans (VVSC for Veterans) won three regular season titles:

  1. The 35 and Over team won the Division 2 regular season and is ready for the playoffs.
  2. The Long Fanged Vipers (Seniors) won the Division 3 regular season.
  3. The Burke Vipers won their Thursday night division under the super coaching of new Viper’s coach, Joe Boland!

Fall Ball kicks off right after the Labor Day weekend and the Vipers will compete on Tuesday nights in Division 1.  Dave Obstgarten continues to do a fine job with the Tuesday Night Vipers; they will compete solely at Braddock Park.  Marty Chavers will be back as the coach of the Five Sided Vipers as they play in the Thursday Night Division 2 at both Braddock Park and Beulah Park and the Long Fanged Vipers will compete in the Seniors division this fall, also at both Braddock and Beulah Parks.

The Reston Vipers (over 40 league) continues to climb their way back toward the top of their division as the league continues this summer into the fall.  Jimmy Sneed continues to do a great job running this new Viper squad.

For players wondering about the Las Vegas trip, John Kulifay is running that effort completely this year.  He is making arrangements for players interested in going to Las Vegas in November.  Please contact John directly at
