This Viper’s team represented the organization well with a 14-6 season to kick off the year. Newcomer Shawn Meneely brought a strong bat to the team, with several reliable leadoff doubles and a team-leading 0.711 batting average. Chris Benoit continued his hitting tear from late 2011 by leading the team in hits, runs, “ribbies”, and triples. Vipers stalwart Jimmy Sneed led with 30 singles, and the team was powered by Mike Nachmias who had 5 dingers in only 30 at bats. This team continued to display its popularity, bringing 14 alternate players to the plate in various games to augment the core players. Coach Nick Bartoo led by example with a 0.700 batting average (and a 1.000 opposite field average), and proved adept at getting lots of players their “dream jobs” in the field with a “play where you want” policy (most of the time).
